MISSIONS

The Gearhartville Free Methodist Church actively supports Free Methodist World Missions with its Annual Missionary Conference, monthly missions offerings and most importantly the Ladies Missionary Fellowship.

The Ladies Missionary Fellowship meets the first Thursday evening of each month at the Fellowship Hall at 7 PM. At the meetings the ladies have missionary devotional time, pray for the missionary requests and work on projects for missions (both foreign and local).

Some of the mission projects include:

1. Collect Campbell soup labels for the East Los Angeles Light & Life Christian School to buy audio-visual, athletic and computer equipment.

2. Collect used stamps for special ministries. Last year alone, $32,000 was given to Latin American Sunday School Curriculum Project from all participating churches.

3. Collect Betty Crocker points and education labels to give them to local schools.

Mission

To serve Free Methodists as together we make disciples of Jesus Christ among the peoples of the world

Vision

Multitudes becoming disciples of Jesus Christ as Free Methodists plant hundreds of healthy reproducing churches around the world

    1. Every local church sending . . .
. . . to the ends of the earth

    2. Every disciple ministering . . .
    . . . in God's chosen place

    3. Every missionary supported . . .
    . . . financially, emotionally and spiritually

    4. Every ministry interconnected . . .
    . . . for maximum Kingdom impact

Core Values

1. We fully support the mission, vision and values of the Free Methodist Church.

2. We are committed to every Free Methodist's privilege to give radically, pray fervently and serve sacrificially in the global mission.

3. We are committed to developing indigenous, culturally relevant, reproducing, missionary-sending churches.

4. We are committed to full obedience to Jesus Christ, disregarding personal comfort and security.

5. We believe fully devoted disciples of Christ develop best in healthy local congregations; therefore, we seek to plant churches through evangelism, leadership development, and ministries of compassion and community transformation.

Goals

By the grace of God and in partnership with the worldwide Free Methodist Church:

1. There will be one million Free Methodists in the world by 2015.

2. We will help mobilize 300 new Free Methodist missionaries by 2010.

3. There will be Free Methodist churches in 250 of the nearly 500 million-plus cities of our world by 2010.

4. 125 new Free Methodist churches will be established each year worldwide.

MISSIONARY CONFERENCE 2007

Special Guest

Gearhartville Free Methodist Church will be holding its annual Missionary Conference on October 13th and 14th. Chris Wilkins who serves in Asia and Cambodia will be visiting and sharing with us the work he does in the Misson Field.

Chris assists in church planting ministries. He and his wife Yuko also train leaders and teach a writing system to children who do not attend school. Before being appointed as a career missionary, Chris served through short-term missions in Japan for 11 years. He was involved in evangelism ministries and taught English Bible studies. Chris and Yuko, an ordained member of the Japan General Conference of the FMC, met during his VISA assignment and were married in April 2002. That fall they began serving in Cambodia as short-term missionaries. Upon their return to Cambodia in late 2007, the family will serve in the capital, Phnom Penh.

Chris and his wife recently celebrated the birth of their second child on September 25th.
